Course agenda:
Normal labour: what is happening and why from the perception of the mother, father, the baby and the midwife.
Local choices: where to have your baby, local policies and statistics. Information for planning a home birth home.
Pain relief: natural and medical.
Labour Support: tips for the birth companion, including physical skills for labour, i.e. breathing through contractions, relaxation techniques and active birth positions.
Abnormal labour: The cascade and experience of intervention. How and why. Being induced, forceps, ventuose and caeserian birth, when your baby may need special care.
Breastfeeding: Information and support, coping with problems.
The early days: life with a newborn, emotions, changing relationships and practical parenting skills. A chance to look at and review parenting books.
Meet with new parents and their baby to discuss their experiences.
Special!! Guest speakers on specialised subjects such as pediatric first aid, baby massage and reusable nappies. At no extra charge.
Lots of discussion & activites and a chance to meet and chat with other parents to be.
Individual folders to keep notes and leaflets in.
A goody bag with free samples at the end of the course.
A reunion & celebration will be held shortly after the last baby has been born.
